  1. Have you ever been forced to work overtime or “off the clock”. If so, what tasks were you asked to perform off the clock and when/where did this happen? Please provide as much detail as you feel comfortable with.

My boss was a man named Warren Hurbert Williams.

  1. Have you ever been the victim of “wage theft”? That is, have you ever been underpaid or not received payment for work completed? Please provide as much detail as you feel comfortable with.

I was painting at the Canopy Apartments mostly. I also was hanging doors, cleaning carpets and was part of the cleaning crew at the District Apartments. I mainly pulled handles towards the end at a retirement community on 39th.  I did between 7-12 rooms per day.

There’s at least 5 people on my crew that were not paid right. I worked at the district from August 11th until the 21st. Worked from 8am until 10pm each day Monday through Saturday. Only reason I didn’t work on Monday was because the buses didn’t run. Worked 16 and ½ hours on August 11th. Never got any breaks which was hard when painting.

Note from Jeremiah: Was a man of limited means with a wife that is 6 months pregnant. He said he was afraid of what he would do to this person when he sees him. He’s called him numerous times for the past month but he won’t return his call. Feels like he has no chance to get his money back under the law.

Yes. Equipment broken while I was operating it and wages withheld to for the equipment.

Note from Jeremiah: The man who did this was an Israel (something) from Jacksonville. He worked on the Reggae Shack Cafe and Otter & Trout remodeling job on University Avenue in Gainesville. He also did stucco for the Olrich Construction company.
